چکیده

Abstract Using holographic methods in the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion (EMDA) theory, it was conjectured that the thermal diffusion in a strongly coupled metal without quasi-particles saturates an universal lower bound that is associated with the chaotic property of the system at infrared (IR) fixed points [1]. In this paper, we investigate the thermal transport and quantum chaos in the EMDA theory with a small Weyl coupling term. It is found that both of the thermal diffusion constant DQ and the butterfly velocity vB can get corrected in the presence of the Weyl coupling, hence resulting a modified relation between the two at IR fixed points. Unlike that in the EMDA case, our results show that the ratio DQ/(v 2 BτL) always contains a non-universal Weyl correction which depends on the matters as long as the U(1) current is relevant in the IR.

Finite Larmor Radius Effects and Quantum Chaos

Informed by insights from quantum chaos theory, three approaches for estimating finite-Larmor-radius (FLR) stabilization of ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities are discussed: phase space criteria based on the Weyl formula, “pseudo-FLR” modifications of MHD to suppress large perpendicular wavenumbers, and inclusion of drift corrections to the dispersion relation. PACS numbers: 52.35.Bj...

Universal Charge Diffusion and the Butterfly Effect

We study charge diffusion in holographic scaling theories with a particle-hole symmetry. We show that these theories have a universal regime in which the diffusion constant is given by Dc = Cv B/(2πT ) where vB is the velocity of the butterfly effect. The constant of proportionality, C, depends only on the scaling exponents of the infra-red theory. Our results suggest an unexpected connection b...

Complementarity of the Maldacena and Karch-Randall Pictures

We perform a one-loop test of the holographic interpretation of the KarchRandall model, whereby a massive graviton appears on an AdS4 brane in an AdS5 bulk. Within the AdS/CFT framework, we examine the quantum corrections to the graviton propagator on the brane, and demonstrate that they induce a graviton mass in exact agreement with the Karch-Randall result. Interestingly enough, at one loop o...

Conformal mappings preserving the Einstein tensor of Weyl manifolds

In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a conformal mapping between two Weyl manifolds to preserve Einstein tensor. Then we prove that some basic curvature tensors of $W_n$ are preserved by such a conformal mapping if and only if the covector field of the mapping is locally a gradient. Also, we obtained the relation between the scalar curvatures of the Weyl manifolds r...
